• THE WHITE HOUSE (Adélaïde de Saint-Bon)

Hello everybody, my name is Adélaïde. In this note you will find all the things you have to know to be an expert of the White House. I chose this place because I think it is very important for the story of the United States.

Although the White House is a very famous building in the worldwide and millions of visitors come to see it every year, few people know the different parts and the History of the White House.

The White House is where the President of the United States lives with his family and works since John Adams in 1800. The White House sits in the District of Columbia at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue in Washington, the capital city of the United States.

The residence was built with the architecture of the “neoclassical style” (Wikipedia). The Construction took place between 1792 and 1800

The expression “White House” is often used to design the administration of the President. It is the symbol of the Power, both political and economic. For the time being, Donald Trump is the 45th president.

The house has changed many times because of two blazes (1814 and 1929) and the moving in of the successive presidents. Let’s mention the building of the western part of the house in 1901. Now, the White House has:“  a main residence and architectural wings on the East and West sides, 4 floors plus a basement and sub-basement, 132 rooms and 35 bathrooms, 28 fireplaces, 8 staircases, 3 elevators, several gardens, a tennis court, a basketball court, a putting green, a bowling alley, a movie theater, a jogging track, and of course a swimming pool.”( whitehousemuseum.org)
