Hello everyone, I'm going to present you Fairmount Park.

Fairmount Park is a municipal park system located in Philadelphia, in United States.  .It consists of 63 parks and is a total of 2052 acres.

Fairmount Park own a large collection of public art thanks to  the association of public art to glamorize the park with sculpture including the Florence Lions. There are about 400 arts in this park. .

HISTORY

 We can see pieces of art of Benjamin Franklin Parkway, or check out the Smith Memorial Arch dedicated to the military heroes of the civil war.

The philadelphia art museums is amongst the largest art museums in the country.It is located at the beggining of Fairmount Park.

Hello everyone, recently I went for a trip to New York with my family and I was lucky to see the famous Broadway Street. If anyone hesitates to go there, they must read this blog. I am sure that you will take your ticket immediately after reading this.

Broadway is the only avenue that doesn’t respect the « plan of grid » of New York (the plan dates back to 1881) that is why it is a world-wide known avenue. It’s also because in this street there are a lot of beautiful and immense parades where important events are celebrated, where people dance, where music bands perform and where confetti   are thrown. The first parade dates back to 1886 for the inauguration of The Statue of Liberty.

This avenue has inspired a lot of constructions like the Flatiron Building due to its special and atypical aspect. It’s the oldest north-south avenue of New-York. Its construction was completed before the arrival of English Settlers. It is located in Manhattan. It begins in Bowling Green and finishes 21 kilometres farther to Sleepy Hollow in Winchester

In this article I will make you discover the Philadelphia Art Museum. The museum is the biggest art museum of Philadelphia. Each year it receives 800 000 visitors.

Outwardly, the building is fascinating. On a podium of stairs stand up the neo classic art museum. Made with white stones it was built and open to the world in 1876. Some people called it “Parthenon on the parkway” because of his similarity with the Parthenon indeed the museum was inspired by the Greek architecture, and because it sits at the end of the Benjamin Franklin parkway.  The imposing stairs that frame the edifice are nicknamed the rocky stairs, in the movie “Rocky” the main actor run the steps, and because a statue of Rocky stand up at the right of the stairs. The museum has also a sculpture garden who presents beautiful outdoor settings.

The interior is very spacious. The great stairs hall is decorated with stones’ column again in the neo classic style. In the room you can find paintings, sculpture but also furniture. The Philadelphia art museum is an international one, actually it displays various collections from Europeans XVII century paintings with Rembrandt and Rubens. But also with French impressionist with Renoir, Monet and American pop art iconic artist like Andy Warhol. The museum exhibits as well antique art and modern art. Visiting the museum is an immersive experience, you walk through history and time.

Empire state building

Hello my name is Philippine Crepon. In this note you will find all the things you have to know to be an expert of the Empire State Building:

With its architecture and its design the Empire State Building is one of the most impressive skyscrapers in the world. Even if now some buildings are higher, the view from the 102nd floor is always as incredible as it was in 1931.

The construction started in January 1930 and its inauguration took place on the 1st of May 1931

Originally the Empire State Building was created because John Raskob wanted to build a tower higher than the Chrysler building. So it had to be the highest tower of Manhattan. The plan was created in less than two weeks. It is 381 meters  high and with its antenna it is 60 meters higher. It was the highest building in New York City between its construction in 1931 and the inauguration of the Twins Towers in 1973. But it was the highest building of the world until 1967. To build the Empire State Building  $40 948 900 were spent.

After the opening there wasn’t a lot of people because it came out at the time of the « Great Depression ». Since he wasn’t making enough money to cover his original spent, John Raskob had to sell it in 1950.

Some numbers : The inside area is 208 879m2, 102 floors, 1 underground and 73 lifts.

When you are on the 86 floor you are above everything and in the middle of everything. This is the most popular observatory in the world. From the top you can see all of New York City, like Central Park, Hudson River, East river, Time Square, the Brooklyn Bridge and the Statue of Liberty. Sixteen floors above the 86e floor there is the 102e floor of the Empire State Building, where you can enjoy the complete view of Central Park. And when the weather is sunny you will see buildings 130 km around. So do not forgot to take pictures.

There are a lot of movies where you can see the Empire State Building: "Gossip Girl", "How I Met Your Mother", "Friends" etc. But the most famous is King Kong which was created in 1933. In this movie King Kong climbed the building.
